I was raised Sikh.

In Sikhism, there’s a beautiful concept called seva: selfless service.

Walk into a gurdwara, a Sikh temple, and you may find people cooking, chopping vegetables, making roti, serving meals, cleaning or washing hundreds of dishes.

You don’t necessarily know who is wealthy and who isn’t. For that moment, it doesn’t matter. They’re serving alongside one another.

And I’ve come to believe that if you’re fortunate enough to reach a stage in your life where you can genuinely ask, “What do I want to do next?” there’s another question worth asking:

“What has my life uniquely equipped me to do for someone else?”

That’s where meaning becomes mission.

And when that mission creates genuine value for another human being, it can become money too.
